|Why We Love the Erotic Arts and Crafts Fair.|
Hi. I’m Noah, and I’m the person who organizes the Erotic Arts and Crafts Fair each year. We’ve been hosting the fair in Toronto since 2007, born out of a desire to offer a space for DIY culture, sex, pleasure and anti-capitalism to culture and be co-created by makers and their admirers.
I love the EACF because through it we are building the world that I want to live in. A world where we can own the means of our own production, and celebrate the productions of others. Where we can express ourselves individually, creatively, joyfully. Where our erotic and sexual playfulness and power is woven into our daily lives, our communities, our coffeeshops. A world where we come together and laugh, contemplate, and get turned on.
I love the EACF because it is culturing anti-capitalism through pleasure, play, irreverence, earnestness, and joy. I love seeing the imaginative creations that vendors bring. Hearing the sexy conversations amongst visitors. I love seeing the sparkle in someone’s eye when their body says ‘yes!’ to something they see. I love seeing people’s aliveness manifested through touch, questions, smiles, eye contact, blushing. I love how warm the room gets as the day unfolds, how the lights seem to get brighter, feeling the vibrations of everyone’s laughter, chatter, questions. I love watching creators shine as they talk about their passion projects.
I love thinking about the radiating effects of the fair in people’s lives. The art, sex, connection, and growth that the fair may have offered. The new ways someone may consider their gender, their desire. I love hearing about the inspiration that stirs in people to play and create and expand their own erotic container.
Many of us are in search for moments of authenticity, connection, and opportunities to recharge and resist the systemic streams that we’re all non-consensually swept up in. For me, the EACF is a powerful day of resisting through pleasure, leaning into our shared humanity: celebrating our bodies, our creativity, our relationships, our tenderness, our expansiveness, our power. Witnessing resilient loving curious souls swirling around the fair, enmeshed in warm light, sparking eyes, and smiles – there’s nothing quite like it for me.
|If you can’t make it to the EACF this year…|
Gosh, we would love it if you could make it to the EACF, but if you can’t come by and visit us and the many talented makers this year, never fear. We believe strongly in supporting indie manufacturing, and offer a lush range sex toys made with an extra dose of love. Many of these toys are made right here in Ontario… come explore with us!
