The Solidarity Economy Principles and practices to build the Solidarity Economy Movement have recently developed and the team is currently in consultation to garner feedback from players in the Solidarity Economy Movement.
Here is a bit of information from the developers:
Why did we do this?
- Tool to build unity & shared culture around solidarity economy
- Deepening our collective understanding of the diversity of forms and viewpoints that make up the solidarity economy
- Continue to build from what Elandria Williams taught us & what we worked on together
The principles and practices generated here came from a series of conversations in spring and summer 2021 among the people listed here. At the invitation of the organizers, all agreed to devote time outside their organizations to support this movement-building effort. (Organizational affiliation is for identification purposes only and does not imply endorsement of this document or the principles.) These are people with long and deep experience working with worker cooperatives, cooperative and solidarity economy networks, and building cooperation and democracy at the grassroots.
They collectively knew they needed a much wider conversation, so they developed a draft to share and a timeline and process to engage communities and organizations.

CWCF is planning a 2-hour workshop to gather input and feedback from worker co-operatives, other co-operatives and others in the Canadian Solidarity Economy.
