Parcours Program Update

CWCF is working actively with le Réseau COOP in Quebec to adapt their worker co-op training program to English Canada, and we expect to launch it in mid to late February. It’s called le Parcours COOP, loosely translated as “Co-op Journey.”  This program offers entrepreneurs a framework for setting up their worker co-operative, with the aim of increasing the success of these projects through structured support. It’s also a significant opportunity to strengthen the bonds between Réseau COOP and CWCF, who have been allies for many years but have never before co-operated so closely to replicate a successful model.

The Parcours program will walk participants through the necessary steps to establishing a worker co-op, including discovering the legal status best suited to their business project and becoming familiar with the worker co-op model. Participants will learn about management, marketing and financial management through 14 group workshops and 20 hours of personalized coaching. The program will also provide networking opportunities with other entrepreneurs from the co-op movement.

Le Parcours COOP has compiled a strong track record in Quebec.  From 2016-2019, it trained 183 entrepreneurs, launched 36 cooperative projects, and led to the creation of 22 active co-operatives.

The program is open to groups who have begun the exploration of their co-op.  People who are interested in the program are encouraged to attend the “What is a Worker Co-op?”  webinar on November 27, 2020 at 12:00pm (noon) ET for one hour.  For more information and to register visit our event posting here.
