Worker co-op example 4: Multi-cultural Health Brokers

This Edmonton-based co-op is made up of a group of over 100 Multi-cultural Health Brokers.

They represent 25 different cultural and linguistic communities.

Their work started in pre-natal health support, and has expanded to cover a variety of ages and stages, primarily on the basis of government contracts.

MCHB has a holistic approach towards health, and honour the families and work with them as long as they are needed.

Many of their client families are new to Canada, and need support to bridge between their own knowledge from their home country and Canada’s health, social services, education, justice, immigration and employment support systems.
